Description
The Power Control Unit PCU14 it is the compact, stand alone microprocessor device to control one complete UHV-pumping system. Its including ultrahigh vacuum pump (e. g. turbo molecular pump, ion pump, cryo pump, etc.), electro-magnetic vent valve, electro-magnetic safety valve, fore vacuum pump and vacuum gauges based on 0..10V output standard. As standard all of Oerlikon-Leybold gauges are implemented: ITR100, ITR90, PTR237/9, TTR90 (any other can be implemented as option). State of all peripheral devices connected to the PCU14 is currently displayed on big LCD graphics display, giving clearly readouts of basic parameters to the user. Unit comprises several interlocks to protect the vacuum system during power failure or in the case of breakdown of its components.

Implemented PCU14 software fully controls shutdown and venting process of theUHV-pumping system. Attached external protective battery (UPS) protect controlled system against unexpected power loses.
PCU14 may be equipped with RS485 or 232 / USB serial interface to enable remote control and data collecting eg. vacuum etc.

PCU14 control panel is divided into two parts:
- Center part graphical presentation of vacuum system with graphics LCD
- Bottom part key buttons to operate PCU14
Mounting
PCU14 is mounted in the 19” rack (1/2 width, 3 units height). Two such units can be placed next to each other.
There are one types of PCUs but several possibilities controlled system like :
- When the safety valve is
- Located between fore vacuum and turbomolecular pumps
- When the safety valve valve is between turbomolecular pump and the UHV chamber
- Other design of vacuum system
- Current schematic of controlled vacuum system is displayed on graphics LCD.
