The award was granted on April 24, 2019 during a solemn meeting of Members and Friends of the Society of Friends of Silesia in Warsaw.

The award is granted to people and institutions most distinguished for Silesia. Among the winners are Wojciech Kilar, Kazimierz Kutz, Jerzy Buzek, Jan Miodek and Franciszek Pieczka.
