Polish synchrotron already open!

It is the most modern synchrotron and the first in Central/Eastern Europe. Since 1972 it has been the largest investment in Polish science - the cost of building the Center being approx. 50 million euros. The accelerator was opened by prof. assoc. med. Wojciech Nowak, rector of the Jagiellonian University, and prof. assoc. Marek Stankiewicz, director of "Solaris". The Polish Prime Minister – Mrs. Ewa Kopacz was patron of the opening event. Invited guests included a delegation from the Swedish synchrotron, MAX IV. The Jagiellonian University signed a co-operation agreement with the University of Lund, which results in the creation of twin synchrotrons - Solaris in Poland and MAX IV in Sweden. Research using "Solaris" will commence in 2016.
"Solaris" opens new possibilities for many fields of science such as medicine, physics, pharmacology, archeology, geology, crystallography, biology, chemistry, materials engineering and others. "Solaris" allows researchers to probe different forms of matter in detail and to carry out precise analysis not be possible using other techniques. "It's a small Sun on Earth" - says prof. assoc. Marek Stankiewicz.
PREVAC is proud to be one of the suppliers delivering technologically advanced apparatus and various accessories installed on the Solaris synchrotron.
